The Hogs and Howls takes place on Saturday May 28, 2016. We’ll meet at Rocky Mountain Harley Davidson at 9:00 am and head down to The Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center located just outside of Divide, Colorado. The route we take is approximately 92 miles long, lasting about 2 hours. It is a scenic, mountain ride that begins south on Hwy 285 to Pine Valley Road (CO-126 this will be a left turn between Conifer and Bailey). The trip is a two-lane road with occasional passing lanes, winding curves, and a lot of other motorcycle traffic such as sport bikes. We will pass through the towns of Pine, Buffalo Creek, Deckers, Westcreek, and Woodland Park. In Woodland Park, we’ll take the US-24 turn west (right) about 8.4 miles to Twin Rocks Rd. We’ll turn left on Twin Rocks Rd and the wolf sanctuary is about 1.6 miles further down the road. The parking lot is a fairly steep incline with graded, soft gravel. While you are at the sanctuary, you will learn about the magnificent animals living here including wolves, foxes, and coyote. It’s a walking tour with trails and paths so wear comfortable shoes if you plan to take the tour. An admission fee of $10 per adult, and $8 for children 12 and under is collected at the visitor center. You’ll learn about the importance of these animals to our ecosystem and the steps being taken to protect them. Perhaps you’ll get to see a wolf pup while you’re visiting, too.
Note: The Wolf sanctuary does NOT need any meat at this time. Please do not bring any meat as they will not be able to accept it.
