Activity Types

Activities can be of different types, and sometimes multiple types at once.  Some of the most common types are shown below.

  • FUNDRAISER/ CHARITY EVENT - an activity designed to raise money for a specific cause, while having some fun! typically there is a cost to participate (harder to raise funds without that part eh?)
  • BREAKFAST/ LUNCH/ DINNER - friendship and food, what could be better? typically there is a cost to participate (i.e. at minimum paying for your own food)
  • DESTINATION RIDE- An organized ride to a specific location in order to enjoy both the ride to get there and the activities or event going on at the destination.
  • GROUP RIDE – an organized ride where the participants are formed into one large group, or several smaller groups, and travel from a starting point to one or more destinations; typically there is a cost to participate. See the Riding In Groups page for much more information on this topic.
  • OBSERVATION RUN – a ride, self-directed or as a group ride, along a planned route with a set of questions about what you might see along the way ; typically there is a cost to participate and typically there are prizes for the most correct answers, etc.
  • OVER-NIGHT – an organized, you guessed it, over-night trip (one or more nights) i.e.  a camping trip, road-trip to a rally, etc. ; typically there is a cost to participate (i.e. at minimum paying for your own food and lodging along the way)
  • POKER RUN – a ride from a starting point to a number of destinations where cards are drawn towards a poker hand ; typically there is a cost to participate and typically there are prizes for the best hand, etc.
  • VOLUNTEERISM - an organized opportunity to give back to the community where you give your time for the benefit of others, i.e. blood or platelet drives, wagon-building, etc
