30th Annual Toy Run

Sunday Dec 6, 2015

Hard to believe the Rocky Mountain Harley Davidson Dealership and the Children’s of Colorado Hospital have been putting this day together for 30 years. I am amazed and humbled every year and proud that I am able to be a part of such a wonderful day of fun, friends, family and giving.

The planning and organizing that goes on for this day is extensive and takes many hands to bring it together. Barb Krasneparo always does a fantastic job of coordinating the entire event and all of the individuals involved. With the direction from the Wind & Fire Motorcycle members, along with our Head Road Captain Mark Degner and 15 other volunteers directing traffic and parking bikes that day moved flawlessly. Those volunteering at the park were treated to coffee and breakfast burritos provided by Skip and his friends at Biker Down.

The bikes arrived in packs. Just a continuous line of chrome, steel and the unmistakable sound of Harley engines as they entered. Bikes, Trikes, and even sleds of all kinds loaded with toys and decorations filled the park. With the Aurora Fire and Police departments in the lead and with Santa riding on top of the fire engine, the parade started down Colfax Ave. People young and old lined both sides of Colfax waving and cheering us on as we made our way to the Hospital. We were greeted by many others as we entered the Hospital under a huge American Flag. Volunteers came out to greet us along with families, patients and lots and lots of kids. The enjoyment continued as we entered the lobby of the Hospital and were again greeted by cheers and claps from more volunteers, kids, carolers and hot coco.

This day is so special and continues to be a great showing of the compassion and generosity of the biker community. I am so proud to be a part of this chapter and the people in it. I would like to extend a HUGE thank you to Barb, Mark, Mike and Ginger Dean who lead the group from Rocky. The folks at the Rocky Mountain Harley Davidson Dealership and all the volunteers helped 1,440 bikes bring toys to kids at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Thanks to all who continue to support this event.

Happy Holidays to All the Rocky Mountain HOG Family!!!
